Clients who have the necessary access can initiate refunds through their dashboard. They can initiate a single refund or use the bundle feature.
To initiate a refund, we can instruct clients to follow these steps:
- Log into the Administrative Dashboard at dashboard.flywire.com
- Search and select the Payment ID you wish to Refund
- Click on the 'Return' tab located next to the 'Payment Info' tab
- Select the amount you wish to return (you can issue a partial or full refund)
- Click 'Start the Return Process,' and banking instructions will appear
- Use those instructions to send funds to Flywire via ACH/EFT/wire transfer. Please follow the instructions closely as they contain Flywire’s most up to date banking instructions
Once the payment is initiated, it is important to remind clients that this is only step one in issuing a refund. The second step is to send funds via bank transfer (EFT, ACH, Wire). Some clients think we can direct debit their account. At this time this is not an option (there are a few clients that are using netting, which you can check in Admin. Funds must be sent from their account to ours using the details displayed once the refund is initiated. (We are testing out some options to potentially begin direct debiting).
Please note, there are additional refund settings on the new Client Dashboard. Users can submit and/or approve refund orders.
